Patrick Keevins, a Mahopac graduate, has been named Principal of Mahopac High School, following the appointment of Dr. Matthew Lawrence as Assistant Superintendent.
Keevins is a fixture in the community, having grown up in Mahopac and spent much of his professional life here. He is already well acquainted with every class of students currently at Mahopac High School, having served for the past five years as assistant principal at the middle school.
"I know a lot of families from my time in Mahopac,” Keevins said. “I get recognized in the halls all the time by students who I already know from Mahopac Middle School."
Before coming to Mahopac Middle School, Keevins was an assistant principal in the New Rochelle City School District, and before that, he was a high school physical education teacher and football coach at Ketcham High School. He began his career in Mahopac as a teacher at Lakeview Elementary School.
Keevins is already settling into the new role.
"I'm looking forward to creating an environment in which our students can discover what is important to them and what their goals are,” he said. “What matters most to me is meeting the needs of all of our students."
