Mahopac is lucky to have so many talented student musicians and the meeting was jam-packed with awards for our young performers. In total, 91 students from the sixth grade through high school were recognized, including Maxine Van Nortwick, who will perform as part of the NYSBDA Honor Jazz Ensemble.
Concluding the celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, Music Department Chair, Chorus Teacher, and Musical Director Heather Palkewick took to the podium to announce that the Mahopac CSD had once again received the Best Communities for Music Education Award from the National Association of Music Merchants. Palkewick presented the certificate of the award to Superintendent Christine Tona and the Board of Education who are all dedicated to winning the award again for 2024.
