The Mahopac Central School District held its Superintendent’s Conference Days on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29, when teachers, staff and administrators gathered for professional development prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Led by Superintendent of Schools Christine Tona, the two days provided the staff with opportunities to greet each other after the summer break and debrief on major initiatives for the upcoming year. Tona also shared enhancements to facilities districtwide, welcomed new staff members and recognized 30-year employees of the district for their dedication and contributions.
Additionally, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Matthew Lawrence, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Jennifer Pontillo, and Board of Education Vice President Fernando Martinez offered welcoming remarks to the new and returning staff. Administrator for Safety, Security, and Compliance Troy Bilyeu and clinicians Kristel Halton and Dr. Deborah Zides provided safety review and mental health training. Throughout the Superintendent’s Conference Days, the staff members participated in faculty meetings, mandated training and classroom preparation, and reviewed the district’s mission, core values and strategic plan goals.
