The Mahopac Marching Band traveled to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on Oct. 26 to participate in UMass Band Day. Mahopac musicians performed with the Minuteman Marching Band and dozens of high school bands at the halftime show of the UMass vs. Wagner college football game. The show was a jazz tribute, and the bands played the songs “Ghost Dance” by Max Roach and “When the Saints Go Marching In” as performed by Louis Armstrong.
“Mahopac students learned what it takes to put together a field show and were able to bond with many other band students from up and down the East Coast,” Mahopac High School Marching Band Director Steve Wands said. “Our students did a terrific job and represented themselves and the Mahopac community in a positive way.”
